Stephen Rippon
A graduate of the University of Reading, Stephen Rippon is a landscape archaeologist focusing on wetland archaeology in Britain and mainland North West Europe (extensive research in the Severn Estuary). Rippon’s research and interests involve the study of the way landscapes were exploited and transformed throughout time, what he calls “marginal” landscapes, and the characterization of historic landscapes. Rippon has developed an interdisciplinary approach to the study of landscapes by incorporating historical and paleoenvironmental studies. Currently he is a reader in Landscape Archaeology at the University of Exeter.
