Since joining SMU, I have sought external funds to support projects in three areas of interest. These include the organization prehistoric Hohokam ceramic production in central Arizona, interethnic interractions in the Spanish borderlands of New Mexico, and strategies of resistence and diplomacy among the mounted horse nomads of the American Southwest. These projects integrate scientific methodologies (such as geochemical analyses, dendrochronology, and remote sensing) with community-based research, field survey, and excavation. They utilize existing museum collections and archives while promoting the responsible stewardship of heritage resources on tribal and parish lands through active engagement with local stakeholders.
