I First became interested in Archaeology at a young age reading about Antiquarians and their fascinating discoveries. My first fieldwork came as a Boy Scout in the heat and humidity that is a Mississippi summer. I figured I must be passionate about archaeology if 100+ degree heat and near 100% humidity while screening heavy clay and fighting flies, mosquitos, and poison ivy only left me wanting more!
I graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.A. in Anthropology and a minor in Foreign Languages (French) in 2005. In 2007 I began the Ph.D. program at Southern Methodist University with a focus on North American paleoindian studies. In between I worked as a remodeling contractor in NE Mississippi and got married to the love of my life, Jamey Willers.
When not working on my studies, I enjoy camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, bike riding, vegetable gardening (although not as often here in Dallas), carpentry, tennis, soccer, and pretty much most anything outside. When I am not outside, cooking and board games are favorite pastimes.
